Lucky few minutes of SF visibility!

The marine layer, clouds and light fog cleared up just enough for a few minutes to get a mostly clear view of last night's partial lunar eclipse.

Images are a bit soft because there was still a fair bit of haze and light clouds. I was also hand holding the camera because we weren't expecting it to clear up at all.

So happy to see this since we have had cloud cover here in SF for months and have missed most of the recent astro fun.

This last photo shows the clouds coming back in to cover up the view but it was pretty spooky looking which was fun.


 

Late Night Traffic Enforcement Officer

Spotted on a 1am walk along Great Highway. I have been walking the Great Highway path at dawn, sunset and late at night on clear fairly bright moon lit nights in hopes of seeing a barn owl in our neighborhood and I finally spotted one last night!

October Full Moon Rise by Sutro Tower

 Another photo I didn't post last week of the October Full Moon Rise.

Again seen walking back from our local grocery store so the only camera I had was on my cellphone so wasn't super happy with it. But it's still pretty cool and goes well with the sunset and equinox sunset pictures so figured I should post it.

Near Fall Equinox Sunset

This is a few weeks old but saw it looking through some old photos.

We were walking home from our local grocery store and the sunset just about lined up with the end of the east/west road and I couldn't pass up the chance to get a picture.

Nothing like closing out a surf session with an amazing sunset.

Coyote Awareness practice?

I came across these two who seemed to have setup a coyote awareness work shop session of some kind -;P

They were coming down the narrow path I was on and didn't seem to want to get out of the way for me and I had to shout and clap to get them to turn around so I could get off the path and keep some distance from them.

Golden Gate Park is so fun!

OB turned on this morning!

And it was firing rainbows!

There is someone paddling into a wave in that little red circle. See below.

And he made it!

And a really nice bottom turn!

And throwing some amazing spray! I think he may have even gotten barreled on that same wave but I didn't catch it because it was such a long ride.

And someone going right.

I caught that same guy from earlier throwing spray on a few waves. He was killing it this morning.

A guy fishing gives a little bit of scale comparison from shore. I still don't think it shows how big and beautiful the set waves were but thought it was a good reference point if you were standing on shore.
 

Mellow OB Thanksgiving Surf!

Had a bunch of fun waves this morning then went back out and shot some pictures. Waist to a little over head on some sets. Plenty to go around and a lot of party waves. Great morning!

This guy got barreled but my camera started buffering and I missed ut -:/

There were some bigger waves out there if you were in the right spot.

Nice little split peak with a light offshore. Hard to beat.

 C/2023 A3 is still up and on the edge of naked eye visible. With the moon coming up a little later it is still pretty photogenic.
